A Well-Rounded Health and Fitness Routine

Tiger Woods is one of the most incredible athletes of all time. Before his career is completed he will likely break every golf record.

But how has Tiger become such an incredible golfer?

Without a doubt he has a God-given natural skill. But he has taken that natural ability and supplemented it with an incredible work ethic, mental strength and a commitment to health and fitness.

On days when Tiger is not competing, he works out between 2 and 10 hours per day. He uses a combination of cardiovascular, strength training, stretching, balance and coordination, and core training.

While you likely don’t have 2 to 10 hours every day to work out, there are simple things that you can be doing. Including the lunge reach rotation stretch, which should be a part of the daily routine for any golfer.

In addition to his own personal fitness routines, Tiger has been a longtime chiropractic advocate. He once said:

“Lifting weights and seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis has made me a better golfer. I’ve been going to chiropractors for as long as I can remember. It’s as important to my training as practicing my swing.

Golfing with an Aligned Spine

So why does Tiger place such importance on chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is focused on keeping the spine and nervous system balanced and working optimally. Misalignments in the spinal column lead to muscle imbalances, postural changes, unequal weight distribution and slower reaction times.

In order to hit a golf ball well and consistently, your body must be balanced.

In addition, many injuries associated with golfing such as back, hip, knee, ankle and neck injuries can frequently be prevented if you are regularly keeping your spine in proper alignment.

During the first leg of the 2013 FedEx cup golf playoffs, Tiger was struggling with back spasms after sleeping on a particularly uncomfortable mattress. Even with back spasms, he was able to come within one shot of forcing a playoff.

This type of physical resiliency is common with chiropractic patients. With a properly functioning spine and nervous system you are able to adapt with injuries and stresses more effectively.

Another chiropractic advocate and major golf tournament winner Padraig Harrington was quoted in Florida Golf Magazine as saying, “One thing I know through experience is that I need to keep seeing my chiropractor, even when I have a few weeks off from golf, getting ongoing chiropractic care helps me to stay injury-free.  It also helps me to deal with symptoms when they begin, so that they don’t turn into bigger injuries down the road.”

In a nutshell: Life “in” alignment = “advantage” on the golf course, while life “out” of alignment = “disadvantage”

The upper cervical chiropractic approach we use at Health Edge is extremely effective at keeping the body balanced and in alignment for optimal health and performance.

So if the best golfers in the world are regularly seeing a chiropractor, why aren’t you?
