Carpal Tunnel, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Carpal Tunnel Relief, Hand Pain, Hand pain reliefCarpal tunnel syndrome is a hand and arm condition that results in tingling and numbness related to a pinched nerve in the wrist. When a person is suffering from this condition, the main concern they have is finding relief. Most often, medical doctors recommend surgery to alleviate the pain and numbness of the pinched nerve. However, this does not have to be the first option to consider. The pain a person is feeling may be due to a misalignment of the upper neck. How is this possible?

Carpal Tunnel and Improper Neck Alignment

Let’s take a deeper look at the science behind the problem of carpal tunnel in order to understand how it connects to the upper neck. Carpal tunnel is nerve pain. In some cases, a physical problem has not yet developed in the wrist area. The nerves of the arm connect to the brain through the spinal cord and then the brainstem. Therefore, if a problem exists anywhere along this nerve pathway, carpal tunnel pain can be the end result.

An area that often has misalignments is the upper neck vertebrae, the C1 and C2 in particular. Due to the mobility of the neck, these bones can easily move out of place. The job of these bones is to protect the brainstem and the nerves going to the brain. A misalignment here places undue pressure on these nerves, leading to various health conditions including carpal tunnel.

At Health Edge Family Spinal Care, we use a gentle method to help realign a patient’s upper neck vertebrae. It does not require popping or twisting the spine, but it helps the bones to realign in a more natural way, allowing the healing properties of the body to take over. Often, this is all that is needed to restore feeling back to the hand and arm. Once communication and nerve flow is corrected, the body responds positively. Many have seen their carpal tunnel go away entirely.
