Hyper-inflammation
Inflammation is a good thing, but like most good things, it is only good in moderation. The inflammation of our muscles such as when we sprain our ankle or bruise ourselves, is what tells our body to go into defense mode.
Though, just as our body goes into defense mode, it is important that we take action and go into defense mode also. We can’t rely on our body to heal itself unless we give it a little help. That means you should ice that inflamed area.
Though, prolonged inflammation is not a good sign and should not be ignored. That is a sign that your body is continuing to receive low doses of inflammatory substances that are attacking healthy cells, blood vessels, and tissue instead of protecting them.
Think of it like the power of water to put out a fire. Spraying water on a fire is a good thing as long as there is a fire that needs to be put out. But the force of the water from a firehouse onto a building without a fire will only do further damage to the building.
Inflammation and Migraines
Among the various conditions that may arise from chronic inflammation are migraines, which is a neurological disorder that can lead to headaches, nausea, vertigo, or various other symptoms.
Now, most people don’t experience chronic inflammation, and most people know to ice a sprained ankle or bruise. But there are times when our body could become inflamed, and that inflammation will persist. This can happen when someone is experiencing chronic migraines.
Right now, you can continue to ignore those migraines, or take migraine medication for them, which will probably have adverse effects on your health. Or you can begin to take back control of your life and seek the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. They will examine your upper neck vertebrae for any misalignments in your neck that may be the underlying causes of your body’s chronic inflammation.
