Headaches can be incredibly difficult to cope with, especially when they happen more than just once in a blue moon. Unfortunately, many experience chronic headaches daily or at least a few times a week. It may surprise you to learn that the term headache actually encompasses a number of various types of different headaches such as:
- Cluster headaches: A very rare kind of a headache that results in extreme pain, tearing and redness of the eyes, runny nose, and sweating.
- Tension headaches: The most common type of a headache. These result in throbbing and a pressure-like feeling in the head along with neck pain.
- Migraines: These actually fall under the category of a neurological disorder, with headaches being one of their main symptoms. Migraines can also result in nausea, vomiting, increased sensitivity to light and sound, and may even have an aura as a symptom.
- Cervicogenic headaches: These are frequent headaches that cause stiffness and pain.
Finding Relief for Headaches Through Proper Spinal Alignment
Researchers have recently disclosed that headaches are neurovascular in nature. This means that the vascular system and nervous system are involved in causing headaches. These are linked to the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and blood flow to and from the brain. In order for this to work smoothly, the C1 and C2 vertebrae have to be in proper alignment. If there is a misalignment, it may cut off these crucial processes and can result in chronic headaches.
It’s important to recognize that misalignments are different for each person. Therefore, it’s important for you to seek treatment if you are experiencing any of these types of headaches. An examination can determine whether or not there is any misalignment. Even a misalignment of ¼ of a millimeter can wreak havoc on the body. Once a misalignment is measured, a correction is administered, without popping or twisting the spine. Most patients do not even feel anything at all during the adjustment. However, many have seen their headaches go away completely after having this type of care.
