Headaches are so common that sometimes we say something is “giving me a headache” in order to express frustration. Headaches can be frustrating, especially if you experience them often. Some have to deal with this chronic condition on a daily basis.
There are many types of headaches and the pain can be felt in many ways. Headaches can present with pain on one or both sides of the head. The pain may be described as dull, achy, pulsing, throbbing, or pounding. Light and sound sensitivity may also be involved, especially if it is a migraine headache.
What Should You Do About Headaches?
What most people do is reach for the bottle of over-the-counter painkillers. While that may reduce the pain temporarily, it won’t stop the next headache from starting. In fact, some research shows that using pain medicine too frequently can actually result in more headaches referred to as rebound headaches or medication overuse headaches.
At Health Edge Family Spinal Care, we take a different approach to headache treatment. Using the NUCCA technique, we diagnose and correct subluxations of the uppermost vertebrae in the spine. Misalignments in this sensitive region can create brainstem pressure. Headaches are just one possible result.
If you suffer from chronic headaches, don’t resign yourself to a life of covering the pain with medication. Come in for examination to find out if a misalignment can be causing your frequent headaches. Long-term relief may be within reach.
