Sports Related Injuries Concussion-Youth-Football

If your child plays sports, there is a good chance they will get injured if they haven’t been injured already. Because different sports cause a person to use different parts of their body more than others, participants may be more susceptible to injuries in certain parts of their bodies than others. Here is a list of the areas in their body where they might experience injuries and the sports that may cause them.

Lower Back Injury

Sports that lead to lower back pain are those that cause strain to the lower back, involve a twisting motion, loading weights at the end of a range of motion. Some common sports that may lead to a lower back injury include:

  • Running
  • Golfing
  • Weightlifting
  • Hockey
  • Soccer
  • Basketball

Upper Back Injury

The good news is that due to its immobility and extra support, there is less of a chance of a sports related injury to the upper back. Though, injuries may include rib fractures, intercostal neuralgia, or intercostal muscle strains. Sports that may lead to a person experiencing an upper back injury include:

  • Weight training with rotation (or any sport that includes twisting the Torso)
  • Swimming
  • Golf
  • Tennis
  • Skiing

Neck Injury
