Sports Related Injuries
Getting injured is just part of the game, which is why it’s important to take steps to prevent the possibilities of injuries. Though, not every sports focuses on using the same parts of the body, so it’s important to use different preventative methods for different sports.
So, knowing that different sports uses different parts of the body is only of so much use. It’s important to put that knowledge into practice. In order to do that, we’ve list the types of injuries you can get in sports, and in which sports athletes are the most susceptible to experiencing those injuries.
Lower Back Injury
Those sports in which an athlete must twist their lower back, such as a sport in which they must load weights at the end of a range of motion, may cause a lower back injury. Such sports include the following:
- Weightlifting
- Hockey
- Running
- Golfing
- Soccer
- Basketball
Upper Back Injury
Upper back injuries are not as common because this part of the spine is not as mobile and there is extra support here. Though, a person may suffer from rib fractures, intercostal neuralgia, or intercostal muscle strains. Atheletes who suffer from these types of injuries may play the following sports:
- Golf
- Tennis
- Weight training with rotation (or any sport that includes twisting the Torso)
- Swimming
- Skiing
Neck Injury
The neck is one of the most fragile parts of the body, and people are in danger of suffering from neck injuries if they play sports in which they may overextend their neck muscles. Those injuries include whiplash or neck strains, and the sports that may cause these type of injuries may include the following.
- Rugby
- Martial arts
- Football
- Boxing
- Wrestling
Keeping Your Child Safe
Now, we understand that every parent wants nothing but the best for their child, and that’s exactly what you want for your child. That means you want them to enjoy their childhood, which means you want them to experience the least amount of pain possible.
Of course, sometimes that means it’s important that they receive the proper care for any unfortunate sports related injuries. It also means taking preventative measures to help them avoid the possibility of being injured.
If you haven’t heard, one of the best ways to do that is through a gentle and specific form of chiropractic called upper cervical chiropractic. This type of chiropractic focuses on making sure the top two spine are aligned, so the brain can communicate properly with the body.
