How Neck Injuries Happen
It is relatively easy to suffer a neck injury. A person may not even notice it. He could have tripped over a cord, sustained an injury from playing sports, had a fall, or may have even had minor injuries that accumulated over time. However, these minor injuries can lead to major health problems if they are not treated correctly.
One very common result of a neck injury is a migraine headache. These are not just normal headaches but are actually very debilitating. The person dealing with migraines may be incapable of taking part in his or her daily routines. Many do not realize the source of their pain may be a neck injury, and they attempt to treat it with all different kinds of medications. Medications only cover the symptoms of a headache. Sometimes the medicines used are also used to treat a variety of different health problems, one of which is seizures. Although somewhat similar, migraines and seizures are not the same things. Often, medications do not help or offer help only for a short time. It is very important for a person to address the root cause of a migraine. In many cases, this is a neck injury.
Where to Find Help
Upper cervical chiropractors are trained in the field of neck injuries and how these can relate to migraine headaches. If one of the top two vertebrae located in the neck are out of alignment by as little as ¼ of a millimeter, migraines and a host of other health problems can result.
Thinking back, a person may be able to determine where he obtained the injury. However, it may have happened many years ago and have been insignificant at the time. We use specialized techniques to find the misalignment and work to correct it. Many of our patients have reported a decrease in intensity and frequency of migraines. Some have even seen their migraine symptoms go away completely.
