How Upper Cervical Care Can Help with Sports Performance

How Upper Cervical Care Can Help with Sports Performance

Upper Cervical Care, Sports, Athletes, Healthy Spine, HealthAthletes are always looking to improve their performance in order to bring their best to the game. However, many are unaware of how important it is to seek out the care of an upper cervical chiropractor to keep your spine healthy and in alignment.

The posture of a player is integral to how he or she plays the game. It can mean getting the goal, stealing the base, winning the race, or getting the first down. It can also mean leaving the playing field in good shape, without back pain. It has actually been proven that upper cervical care helps a person perform at a higher level.

A Healthy Spine and Sports Performance

Upper cervical chiropractic care has been around since the 1930’s. It is a specific form of chiropractic that focuses on making sure the head is resting in the proper position on the C1 and C2 vertebrae. The head can weigh up to 14 pounds. If it is off balance, it can create a misalignment of the top neck vertebrae. A misalignment here as small as ¼ of a millimeter can cause the body to compensate for the extra weight of the head. This puts a strain on muscles, tissues, organs, and bones as they are not designed to carry that much weight. Added weight in the wrong area is going to affect the performance on the field because the body is not functioning at its peak.

At Health Edge Family Spinal Care, we help our athletic patients maintain a healthy spine by using a gentle, non-invasive method. We do not pop or twist the spine, but allow it to heal itself by realigning the upper cervical neck. This prevents injury in the future. If a person has already sustained a sporting injury, we can help the healing process. It only takes a mild blow to the head or neck to cause a misalignment. Once corrected, our patients are happy to report their sporting experience is much improved.
