Meniere’s Disease: Proof It Can Be Conquered

menieres-disease-proof-it-can-be-conqueredMeniere’s disease consists of a triad of symptoms:

  • Hearing loss
  • Tinnitus — ringing or other noise in the ear
  • Vertigo — a spinning sensation

The good news is a singular underlying cause has been discovered: a misalignment in the bones of the upper cervical spine, particularly the C1 and C2. Once the misalignment is corrected, Meniere’s often becomes less intense or even goes away entirely. The following study proves this is the case.

A Case Study of Patients with Meniere’s Disease

One hundred thirty-nine patients suffering from Meniere’s disease were observed in a study conducted by an upper cervical chiropractor. After receiving an upper cervical adjustment, 136 of the patients reported a huge improvement in their symptoms, especially vertigo. Initially, their condition ranked 8.5 out of 10 in intensity. At the end of the study, the number dropped to 1.4.

The patients also reported an improvement in their nausea and vomiting. In fact, their vomiting went away completely. Those who still experienced vertigo attacks reported they were less intense and did not last as long. Recovery was also much faster.

An interesting fact is that each one of these patients had experienced a whiplash-type injury before the onset of their vertigo.

How Upper Cervical Care Helps Meniere’s Disease

It only takes a misalignment of a quarter of a millimeter to wreak havoc on the entire body and cause a multitude of health issues, including Meniere’s disease. This is due to the fact that the brainstem is located in the exact spot that the C1 and C2 vertebrae are. They are designed to protect the brainstem. However, when they misalign, the opposite is true. They actually put the brainstem under pressure. This causes it to send improper signals to the brain about the body’s location and can be the reason that Meniere’s happens.

Here at Health Edge Family Spinal Care in Glendale, California, we use a gentle method to help these bones move back where they belong. We do not use force to make this happen since we are not required to pop or crack the neck. Rather, the method is mild and allows the bones to reposition naturally. Many patients report similar results to those in the above study.
